Wake Forest Demon Deacons close homestand with No. 20 Virginia Tech

Winston-Salem, NC – The Wake Forest men’s basketball team will face No. 20 Virginia Tech on Sunday in Lawrence Joel Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum for its fourth consecutive game against an AP Top-25 opponent.

Wake Forest is the first ACC team to face four straight AP Top-25 teams in conference play since Louisville from Feb. 2-12, 2019.

The Deacs (3-4, 0-4) are looking to grab their first conference win of the season at home against the Hokies, who are currently third in the ACC after defeating Duke 74-67 on Tuesday.

Virginia Tech (10-2, 4-1) is led by head coach Mike Young, who Steve Forbes faced five times while both were coaching in the Southern Conference. Forbes went 2-3 against Young’s Wofford teams while at East Tennessee State.

With the game scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. broadcast on ACC Network, it will be a Demon Deacon doubleheader. The Wake Forest women’s basketball team tips off against Virginia Tech in Blacksburg at 4:00 p.m. on the Network.

Standout Stat

Junior Daivien Williamson is currently 8th in the ACC in 2-point FG% and one of three guards in the top 10 along with Dre Davis (3rd) and Jose Alvarado (10th).

The 6-2 Winston-Salem native’s 62.2% is the best mark for a Demon Deacon since 7-1 Doral Moore shot 68.9% inside the arc during the 2017-18 season.
