Chris Poston selected to lead Chatham County School’s equity efforts

Pittsboro, NC – The Chatham County Board of Education on June 29, 2021, approved Chris Poston as the Executive Director for Excellence and Opportunity. In his new role, Mr. Poston will lead efforts to implement the district’s equity agenda as we work to support the academic achievement of all students and foster family and community engagement to activate and elevate voice and advocacy for historically underrepresented populations.

Poston has 25 years of service as an educator, 14 of which have been with Chatham County Schools. He has been the Executive Director for Elementary and Middle Grades Education for the district since 2018. His school-based experiences include principal, assistant principal, and elementary classroom teacher positions. 

Poston was named the 2015 Wells Fargo Region V Principal of the Year. In addition, he was selected as Chatham County Schools Principal of the Year in 2015 and 2017. 

As a long-time Chatham resident, Poston attended Pittsboro Elementary, Horton Middle School, and graduated from Northwood High School. He has established relationships with students, staff, families, and community members that will aid his work in the new role.
