Northwood Landing is across U.S. 501 from MOSAIC, the 44-acre, $180 million entertainment and lifestyle destination that serves as the commercial gateway to the Chatham Park master-planned community. Situated on 92 acres, Northwood Landing includes multiple buildings and 10 outparcels for commercial and retail businesses and restaurants. Medley at Northwood Landing, a 312-unit garden-style apartment community adjacent to the shopping center, broke ground Sept 7.

“With the community already enjoying grocery shopping at Lowes Foods, we are happy to offer additional restaurants and services close to home for Chatham Park residents and the growing Pittsboro area,” says Kirk Bradley, Northwood Landing and MOSAIC developer. “We’re particularly excited about the presence of locally owned franchises of some of the nation’s top brands like Dunkin’ and Zaxby’s as well as independent businesses operated by local entrepreneurs.” Seven outparcels that could accommodate up to 70,000 square feet remain available.

Its first location in Chatham County, Dunkin’ will occupy a 2,100-square-foot building with its Dunkin’ Next Gen concept, featuring a convenient drive-through as well as dine-in seating, free Wi-Fi, and Dunkin’ On The Go service. The restaurant chain’s Next Gen concept features a modern design, energy-efficient fixtures and equipment, a dedicated mobile order pick-up area and premium coffee beverage offerings. The store, which will have 35 employees, is operated by Charleston, S.C.-based Coastal Franchising LLC and has a target opening date of mid-December. “We are excited to bring a new Next Gen Dunkin’ to Pittsboro and be part of this thriving community,” says George Ross, CEO, Coastal Franchising LLC, which operates nearly 100 Dunkin’ locations in the Carolinas.

FirstHealth of the Carolinas, Inc. is relocating one of its clinics to a 4,849-square-foot space in Northwood Landing. The expanded clinic adds more providers and cardiology services to serve the community. Foster, CEO, FirstHealth of the Carolinas. “We are proud to open a new location at Northwood Landing and continue our commitment by expanding our primary care services and offering specialty care services.” The facility is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2024.

Vet Pets, a North Carolina-based cooperative network of veterinary hospitals, is slated to open Haw River Animal Hospital, a full-service veterinary care facility for cats and dogs in Northwood Landing. The practice will be co-owned and operated by Dr. Katie Sizer, a Pittsboro resident. The veterinary care facility will offer wellness and prevention services, injury and illness visits, behavioral consults, dental care, in-house radiology and bloodwork, microchipping, surgery and more. Haw River Animal Hospital will occupy a 2750-square-foot space and is scheduled to open to new patients in Fall 2023. “As a resident of Pittsboro, I’m thrilled to be opening a veterinary practice right in my neighborhood,” says Dr. Sizer. “Chatham Park and MOSAIC are very pet-friendly communities. I’m so excited to offer conveniently located, compassionate, high-quality vet care to these pets and their families!”

Hubie’s Express Car Wash, a new, locally-owned company, will soon open operations at Northwood Landing. The car wash offers single and subscription express car washes, with a 126-foot wash tunnel and 24 vacuum spots offering extra-wide parking. Hubie’s Express Car Wash is owned by father and son entrepreneurs who’ve owned other businesses in the community, including a day care business and a landscaping design and construction company. Together, they hope to expand their car wash business to several other locations. Opening in the fourth quarter of 2023, the car wash expects to employ 15 personnel.

A new Zaxby’s location broke ground this month with an anticipated completion early December. The 3,162-square-foot restaurant will have a full-service drive through and a dining room that seats 72 guests. The restaurant will also offer order-ahead and third-party delivery services as well as catering services via the online catering marketplace ezCater.

The Lowes Foods opened in June as part of the grocery retailer’s five-store expansion plan in the Carolinas. The 44,000-square-foot grocer features unique offerings, including a Beer Den with a selection of local craft beers; a draft tap that allows customers to fill growlers on-site or shop with a pint of beer or a cup of wine; Boxcar Coffee selling handcrafted coffee beverages and smoothies; The Cakery, where shoppers can watch square cakes being assembled and iced; The Community Table, an area constructed of reclaimed wood from local barns that offers recipe sampling and other activities; Sammy’s, offering deli sandwiches, pizza, and other grab-and-go meals; and The Chicken Kitchen, serving prepared chicken dishes made with locally sourced, antibiotic-free poultry.
