Kent Jackson promoted to Pittsboro Assistant Town Manager/Engineering Director

Pittsboro, NC – The town of Pittsboro has announced that Mr. Kent Jackson has been promoted from his role as Town Engineer and previous Interim Town Manager to the new position of Assistant Town Manager/Engineering Director for the Town of Pittsboro. In making this decision, the Town Manager acknowledged his proven leadership, extensive experience, and strong ties to our community.

Mr. Jackson, a North Carolina native living in Chatham County, brings over two decades of government experience, focusing on development services, public works, and transportation. His problem-solving abilities as the Town Engineer have led to the completion of numerous complex projects that have benefited our Town.

Mr. Jackson is a North Carolina State University alumnus with a Bachelor of Science in Construction. He also completed the Municipal Administration Certification Program at the University of North Carolina School of Government. His status as an NC Licensed Professional Engineer and his comprehensive education positions him well for this new role.

Regarding the promotion, Town Manager Jonathan Franklin said, “I’m pleased to announce Kent’s promotion. His work as Interim Town Manager demonstrated dedication, professionalism, and commitment to Pittsboro. His performance gained the trust and respect of the Board of Commissioners, staff, colleagues, and myself. I am confident that Kent will continue contributing positively to our organization and Town.”

Beyond his professional role, Mr. Jackson has actively contributed to our community as a past member of the Board of Directors for a Human Services organization and the Affordable Housing Steering Committee, Chairman of the NC State Building Commission, and Director of State Construction. On a personal front, Jackson and his wife, Jennifer, are raising two children currently enrolled in Chatham County public schools.
