Pittsboro, NC – The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the public to identify a woman whose body was discovered in Jordan Lake this week.
On Tuesday, August 29, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a boater at Jordan Lake contacted the Sheriff’s Office after spotting a body in the water near the Farrington Point Boat Ramp, 605 Farrington Point Road. The Sheriff’s Office promptly recovered the body, and an ongoing investigation is underway to determine the victim’s identity and circumstances surrounding her death, which investigators believe was neither accidental nor self-inflicted.
The woman may have had Hispanic, Latin American, or Middle Eastern heritage. She stood at a
height of 5’ tall and weighed approximately 175 pounds. She was wearing blue jeans, a gray
shirt, and a pearl necklace.
Sheriff Mike Roberson deeply empathizes with the situation, stating, “Behind every case, there’s
a person who is somebody’s loved one. We urge the public to remember that this victim is
someone’s family member, and we are committed to bringing closure to both the victim’s loved
ones and our community.”
The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office has released a forensic sketch of the victim along with a
photograph of an earring found in the area. If the image and description match someone you
know, the Sheriff’s Office urges you to check on them, or contact the Chatham County Sheriff’s
Office or your local law enforcement agency if you need assistance.
If you have any information about the deceased woman or if you witnessed any suspicious
activity around Farrington Road and Jordan Lake before or on August 29, please contact the
Chatham County Sheriff’s Office at 919-542-2911. Your assistance could be invaluable to this
ongoing investigation.
