Pittsboro, NC – The proposed Congressional District Map splits Chatham County into District 9 for the western and District 4 for the eastern parts. The map packs District 4 with Democrats and protects the District 9 Republican seat.

Why did the Senate Redistricting Committee do this? Perhaps it’s because Chatham Park will grow significantly and would likely to be predominantly Democrat, which would threaten the District 9 Republican seat.
Chatham County does not need to have split congressional maps. Contact the members of the NC Senate Redistricting Committee to voice your concerns.
