Hit-and-run incident along U.S. Highway 64 claims life of Siler City resident

Siler City, NC – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol says a 49-year-old pedestrian was fatally injured early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run accident in Chatham County.

Diana Davis Johnson was fatally injured early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run accident on U.S. Highway 64 in Chatham County.

According to officials, Diana Davis Johnson, of Siler City, was on foot heading eastbound on the westbound side of U.S. Highway 64 when she was struck by a westbound vehicle whose driver fled the scene just after 3 a.m.

Authorities say evidence indicates Johnson was struck in the face by the vehicle’s side mirror and tragically died from injuries she sustained in the crash.
