Sow much fun: Chatham County’s 5th annual Spring Ag Fest

Pittsboro, NC – Chatham County invites the community to enjoy its 5th annual Spring Ag Fest at the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center (CCACC) on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The CCACC is located at 1192 US 64 Business West, Pittsboro. The Spring Ag Fest is free and open to the public.

The Spring Ag Fest is a celebration of Chatham County’s agriculture, forestry, and natural resources. Dozens of indoor and outdoor exhibitors and vendors will highlight local farms, farmers’ markets, sustainable agriculture, agricultural support and advocacy, agribusiness, beekeeping, livestock, forestry, green industry, wildlife, conservation, and more. The event will proceed rain or shine, but outdoor activities may be affected by weather conditions.

The event will offer activities for people of all ages, including pony rides; 4-H Kid Zone, offering a range of farm-themed activities, games, coloring, and face painting; Farmer Ed’s Ready, Set, Grow magic shows; and Smokey Bear demonstrations. Ten food trucks will offer a variety of tasty options.

Chatham Transit will provide shuttle service to and from the event from these three locations:
• The Chatham County Justice Center, East Chatham Street
• Central Carolina Community College, 764 West Street
• The pop-up park, West Salisbury Street (across from the Postal Fish Company)

Come explore the 4-H Kids Zone for the first time at Chatham County Ag Fest this year! Check out the Chatham Experience, sponsored by Quality Equipment, where you can learn about agriculture through an interactive and instructive pathway of fun! Participate in the Ag-Fest-wide Scavenger Hunt Bingo to earn a prize! Learn about the upcoming opportunities with 4-H and the local clubs! Unleash your creativity at the Art Station! Enjoy all this and more!

Ready, Set, Grow Agricultural Magic Show

Farmer Ed will entertain the kids with a show that is magical, comical, and full of silly stuff that kids can relate to. Kids will learn about farm life and how food makes it from farm to table. Farmer Ed helps kids understand how important farming is to our lives. There will be three shows inside the conference center directly behind the Kids Zone.

Show times are at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.

The celebration of agriculture in Chatham continues in downtown Pittsboro, with displays at the pop-up park on Salisbury Street and throughout the downtown merchants.

Note: For the safety of participants as well as vendors/exhibitors (and their livestock/poultry/etc.), this is not a dog-friendly event so we ask that visitors do not bring their dogs to Ag Fest.
