New 2020 census data shows Chatham County population grew by 17%

Pittsboro, NC – The most recent census data shows that Chatham County gained more than 10,000 residents from 2010 to 2020, a 17 percent increase that puts the county’s total population at 76,285. The growth rate for the state of North Carolina included almost 900,000 residents, which represents a 10 percent increase.

Siler City experienced a 5.2% growth rate. Hispanic residents represent 46.5% of the town’s population.
