Pittsboro, NC – The Town of Pittsboro proudly presents its proposed 2024-2025 Fiscal Year budget. The proposed budget totals $11,093,912 and holds the property tax rate the same at $.44 per $100 of assessed value. The proposed budget includes a proposed new Municipal Vehicle Tax. This would be a $30 charge per vehicle, with revenue allocated primarily to public street maintenance and some general purposes.
Community members can view the Manager’s proposed budget on the Town of Pittsboro website. The budget is also available for inspection at Town Hall (287 East Street, Suite 221-A, Pittsboro, NC 27312).
“The budget reflects the Town Board and Staff’s commitment to providing high-quality, low-cost services,” said Town Manager Jonathan Franklin. “These services provide safe and secure neighborhoods and are fundamental to the Town’s quality of life and economic vitality. This budget also continues the Town’s work towards achieving an average livable wage goal for all employees and establishing the Town as the best local government employer in the area.”
A Public Hearing to allow community members to share their feedback with the Board of Commissioners has been scheduled to occur at the Town’s Board of Commissioners meeting on Monday, May 13, 2024. The meeting will be held at the Chatham County Agriculture and Conference Center (1192 US 64 Business West, Pittsboro, NC 27312) starting at 6 pm. Those wishing to speak during the Public Hearing must sign up on the sheet provided at the door to the meeting room before the meeting starts.
Highlights from this budget include funding for an additional Community Police Officer and facilities Maintenance Technician and expanding a part-time administrative assistant position for the Police Department to a full-time Administrative Assistant and Evidence Technician Position. Community members may also notice that our budget looks different this year, as water and wastewater utilities will be provided by TriRiver Water – our partnership with the City of Sanford.
