Chatham County authorities to resume search for missing teen on Jordan Lake Thursday

Pittsboro, NC – Chatham County authorities continued their search Wednesday, March 8 for a 15-year-old male who went missing in Jordan Lake Tuesday night.

Authorities will resume search efforts Thursday morning.

On the evening of March 7 at approximately 8 p.m., the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office responded to Farrington Point Boat Ramp, 605 Farrington Point Rd., following a report of a missing person.

Authorities launched a water search and a search of the lake’s shoreline for the teenager who went missing after encountering mechanical problems with a jet ski while on the lake.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office are members of N.C. Wildlife Resources, N.C. Highway Patrol, North Chatham Fire Department, Moncure Fire Department and FirstHealth EMS. Also joining the search was Jennifer Miller of the REDS Team, who assisted with a K9 trained to locate missing people.

“This is a difficult time for the family, especially not knowing what happened,” said Sheriff Mike Roberson. ” We have multiple resources working on this and we’re doing everything we can to locate the missing teenager and provide his family with answers.”
