Chapel Hill, NC – The North Carolina High School Athletic Association has released the pairings for the state basketball playoffs, which begin this week.
First round games for boys and girls are scheduled for Tuesday, February 23. Each of those games will be played at the higher seed.
Winners will advance to the second round on Thursday, February 25. The third round is Saturday, February 27. Regional semifinal games are on Tuesday, March 2. The first four rounds will be played at the higher seed.
The state finals will be held on Saturday, March 6 at Providence Grove High School and Wheatmore High School in Randolph County. Game times will be 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Teams will be assigned after the regional semifinals.
Chatham County High School Boys Basketball
Northwood High School, Pittsboro, NC
In the 2021 NCHSAA 3A Men’s Basketball bracket, the #13 seed Northwood Chargers finished at 10-2 in the Big 8 3A conference. They will play away against #3 seed New Hanover High School Wildcats (8-1) in Wilmington on Tuesday.
Chatham Central High School, Bear Creek, NC
In the 2021 NCHSAA 1A Men’s Basketball bracket, the #13 seed Chatham Central Bears finished at 7-1 (9-1 overall) in the Yadkin Valley 1A conference. They will play away against #3 seed Starmount High School Rams (9-5) in Boonville on Tuesday.
Chatham Charter School, Siler City, NC
In the 2021 NCHSAA 1A Men’s Basketball bracket, the #7 seed Chatham Charter Knights finished at 9-0 (12-1 overall) in the Central Tar Heel 1A conference. They will host #11 seed Christ the King Crusaders (11-3) at home on Tuesday.
Didn’t make the cut
Woods Charter School (1-10) and Jordan-Matthews high school (4-10) did not make this year’s NCHSAA basketball tournament.
Chatham County High School Girls Basketball
Northwood High School, Pittsboro, NC
Northwood Lady Chargers will host E.E. Smith at home on Tuesday.
Chatham Charter School, Siler-City, NC
In the 2021 NCHSAA 1A Women’s Basketball bracket, the #9 seed Chatham Charter Lady Knights finished at 5-1 (8-2 overall) in the Central Tar Heel 1A conference. They will travel to play Community School of Davidson (13-0) in Davidson on Tuesday.
Didn’t make the cut
Chatham Central and Jordan-Matthews high school (4-10) did not make this year’s NCHSAA basketball tournament.
