Pittsboro, NC – Fourteen North Carolina school boards have voted to make masks optional for students for the 2021-22 school year. The fourteen school districts making masks optional are Mooresville Graded School District, Cabarrus, Caldwell, Catawba, Cleveland, Lincoln, Pender, Sampson, Watauga, Harnett, Haywood, Randolph, Rowan-Salisbury and Union counties.
During the public input portion of the Chatham County School Board meeting on July 19, several Chatham County parents spoke in favor of making wearing masks voluntary during the next school year.
Since Chatham is offering an online only option for the 2021-2 school year, should the school board make masks optional for students, like several other districts have already done? Do you think masks should be voluntary or mandatory in Chatham County Schools?
Take our online poll here. (voting ends on August 11 at 5:30 pm)
The next regular session Chatham County School Board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 12. It will take place at the Horton Middle School multipurpose room beginning at 5:30 pm.
