Siler City, NC – Are you in need of a place for your kids to burn off some energy and reset their brains? Siler City Parks and Recreation is excited to announce the creation of the Homeschool Recess Program. The program is designed specifically for homeschool children and parents seeking an indoor location to play, have fun, and connect with others.
Recent studies state that unstructured play engages the mind and body actively while reducing stress for children. Families with homeschool children are encouraged to utilize Paul Braxton Gymnasium (115 South Third Avenue, Siler City, NC 27344) each Thursday morning from 10am-12pm (February-March 2022). This is a free program. No registration is required; however, a waiver must be signed at the beginning of each session when signing-in.
Siler City Parks and Recreation will offer basketballs and basketball goals each week for the program and families are encouraged to bring their own recess toys and supplies. While the program is a non-instructional program, guardians must supervise their children at all times. This program is not designed to meet official homeschool recess requirements.
Please be advised, face coverings are required while inside the gymnasium. Siler City looks forward to offering this program and fun experience to the community.
