Join the Chatham County YMCA on March 12 at 8:30 a.m. for the first-ever Leprechaun Dash! This 5K or 10K run raises money for children in Chatham County.
On what will be a fun and challenging course, the Chatham County YMCA will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and raise money for children in Chatham County. Whether you’re tuning up for a spring half marathon like Tobacco Road or just want a good goal for a New Year’s Resolution, this race is for you. Prizes will be awarded for age groups as well as the best leprechaun attire. No matter what, don’t forget to wear green!
THE COURSE
Beginning at the Chatham YMCA (287 East Street, Pittsboro), you’ll race through Chatham Park where you’ll find a fast downhill finish. From the Chatham YMCA, you can easily walk to a number of downtown Pittsboro restaurants or breweries for lunch or brunch.
Want to walk either course? You’re welcome to! The Chatham County YMCA plans to keep their timing set-up until at least 11 a.m. They just ask that you stay on sidewalks and cross the roads safely at crosswalks and street corners. They can not guarantee police presence past 10:30 a.m.
Stroller and pet policies: Baby strollers/joggers are permitted, but for the safety of all participants please start at the back behind the runners and walkers. Pets are not allowed on the racecourse.
OUR CAUSE
All funds raised during the race support children in Chatham County through the YMCA Annual Campaign. The Chatham County YMCA Annual We Build People Campaign provides financial assistance for after school and summer day camps. Each year, the Chatham YMCA provides $100,000 in scholarships for child care and youth-oriented programs where we seek to build people through outdoor activities, sports, and leadership development.
REGISTRATION
Both races will have a fee of $45.
Included in your fee is the “Hipster Leprechaun” t-shirt (for all registrations prior to March 1) and support for a great cause.
