Pittsboro, NC – Northwood High School’s Arts Education Department is thrilled to announce Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka will play in the auditorium of Northwood High School Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, April 7-9, 2022, each evening at 7pm.
Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka tells the story of the world-famous chocolatier, creating a fantastical contest that invites a lucky few winners into his mysterious factory for a tour and a lifetime supply of chocolate. The catch—they must find a golden ticket, of which there are only five, wrapped among his scrumptious candies. The audience will meet the five winners and follow them through the twists and turns that are pure imagination. Get ready for Oompa Loompas, incredible inventions, and a heartwarming story that teaches kids to learn from their failings and become better people. This story follows the original 1970s film, and includes classics “Pure Imagination,” “The Candy Man,” and “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket,” alongside new and entertaining songs.
This show is fun and appropriate for all ages!
This is Northwood’s first musical performance since 2019’s production of Disney’s High School Musical. Direction and technical direction is led by Kayla Sharp, Northwood’s theatre teacher. She and fellow arts faculty, Leslie Burwell (Visual Arts), Kristen Oakes (Dance), Matt Hanson (Vocal Music), and Jason Freeman (Instrumental Music), along with their students, have worked tirelessly to bring this production together, all outside of class time.
