Pittsboro, NC – Chatham County Solid Waste & Recycling is expanding the construction & demolition (C&D) recycling program to ten Collection Centers. Starting Monday, June 13, C&D recycling will be available at Asbury, Bennett, Crutchfield Crossroads, Goldston, Hadley, Harpers Crossroads, Marthas Chapel, Moncure, Pittsboro, and Siler City.
“Construction & demolition recycling has been available at four centers since 2020 and over 800 tons have been recycled,” said Kevin Lindley, Environmental Quality Director. “We are excited to be able to expand C&D recycling to more Collection Centers, so C&D materials that can be recycled do not end up in a landfill.”
C&D materials can only be accepted from residents with a current decal who are doing the construction or demolition work themselves. Materials accepted include cabinets, carpet and padding, countertops, doors, flooring, gypsum/drywall, insulation, plumbing fixtures, shingles, siding, tile, windows, and wood/lumber. Visit the C&D webpage for more details on what can and cannot be accepted along with any special instructions. Residents may bring a maximum of one pickup truck-sized load in a seven-day period to any of the Collection Centers.
Businesses cannot use the Collection Centers. Solid Waste & Recycling has an online list of construction and demolition facilities that will take business C&D waste.
