Duke football holds 90-play scrimmage

Durham, NC – Duke football held a 90-play scrimmage on Saturday evening at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.

The Blue Devils were divided during the scrimmage with the offense accounting for one team and the defense the other. The two units battled back-and-forth, occasionally working on situational team drills and special teams, in between live play.

At the conclusion of the scrimmage, redshirt senior wide receiver Jalon Calhoun and junior nickel Brandon Johnson met with members of the media.

“I feel good about our offense,” Calhoun said. “We have to be a little bit more consistent up and down the field and starting out drives. I felt like we came out a little bit slow today, but it started to pick up toward the middle of practice.”

Johnson added that he thought the defense performed well in the scrimmage.

“We tried to put an emphasis on communication, and I think we communicated well which led to the defense performing well.”

The Blue Devils return to the practice field Tuesday for their 12th spring workout. Duke has three practices remaining before its Blue & White Game, which is slated for Saturday, April 22nd inside Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.
