The next chapter: Kristen Breedlove is new Perry Harrison principal

Pittsboro, NC – The Chatham County Board of Education has approved Mrs. Kristen Breedlove as the new principal of Perry Harrison Elementary School, effective August 1.

Breedlove spent her first six years as a teacher with Lee County Schools, where she taught fourth and sixth-grades at Deep River Elementary and SanLee Middle School. Breedlove joined the J.S. Waters School family in 2012, where she taught 2nd through 6th grades in various capacities from math to all other subjects. Breedlove then moved over to Siler City Elementary in 2019 where she served as administrative intern, and most recently as assistant principal.

Breedlove received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2006 and Masters of Education with a concentration in Elementary Mathematics in 2016, both from UNC Greensboro, while also serving as a classroom teacher. Breedlove then entered the UNCG Principal Preparation for Excellence and Equity in Rural Schools (PPEERS) program and completed her Masters of Administration degree in 2020 which included a full-time year internship at Siler City Elementary. 

“As a product of Chatham County Schools, I am honored to continue the legacy of excellence at Perry Harrison,” Mrs. Breedlove said. “I am excited to listen, learn, and serve alongside this amazing community of students, staff, and parents.”

Chatham County Schools Superintendent Dr. Anthony Jackson said Breedlove will be a strong asset for both Perry Harrison and Chatham County Schools.

“Mrs. Breedlove is an excellent and well-prepared administrator.  As a native Chatham County resident, she has devoted her entire career to supporting our students and our district.  I am thrilled to celebrate her appointment with the Mariner community,” Dr. Jackson said. “Her energy, passion, and experience will allow her to lead Perry Harrison to higher levels of success and continue serving as a valuable team member and asset for both parents and students in Chatham County Schools.”
