Siler City, NC – We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Sarah Estes will become the new principal of Siler City Elementary, effective July 1. She will be replacing Mrs. Tania Poston, who retired at the end of the school year. Mrs. Estes currently serves as the principal of Virginia Cross Elementary, also in Siler City.
Estes began her teaching career in Granville County, teaching fourth and fifth grade. She spent her first six years as a school administrator as the assistant principal at Pittsboro Elementary, followed by one year as the assistant principal at North Chatham Elementary. She has served as principal at Virginia Cross Elementary for the last six years.
Estes received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2006 from the Pennsylvania State University. She completed her Masters in School Administration in 2011 from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
“As a member of the Siler City community, I’m honored to be able to continue to serve our students as the new principal of Siler City Elementary,” Mrs. Estes said. “I’m excited to work collaboratively with parents and staff to continue to provide an excellent education for each Siler City student.”
Chatham County Schools Superintendent Dr. Anthony D. Jackson expressed enthusiasm about Mrs. Estes’ new role.
“Mrs. Estes is an exceptional leader and administrator. Since joining Chatham County Schools, she has consistently supported all her students and staff, as well as the district,” Dr. Jackson said. “I am delighted to welcome her to the Bulldog community. Her compassion and proven instructional track record will undoubtedly elevate Siler City Elementary to new heights of success. I am confident she will remain a valuable asset to both parents and students in our schools.”
