Siler City, NC – The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the Siler City Police Department, is investigating a robbery and shooting incident that occurred in Siler City on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
Around 11:30 p.m., a juvenile was shot near Bray Park on Alston Bridge Road following an altercation with an unidentified suspect. The incident began on Fairfax Street near Pony Farm Road in western Chatham County, where the suspect robbed the victim and fled in a vehicle. Subsequently, the victim and another juvenile pursued the suspect in a separate vehicle, leading into the city limits of Siler City near Bray Park. At this point, the suspect fired shots at the pursuing vehicle, injuring the second juvenile.
The Siler City Police Department received a report at 11:31 p.m. regarding a gunshot victim at the First Health Emergency Medical Services at 320 S. Chatham Ave. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, a juvenile male, had been transported to Chatham Hospital by EMS. The victim was later airlifted to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. The current condition of the juvenile remains undisclosed.
As the investigation continues, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and Siler City Police Department assure the community that there is no ongoing threat to public safety. Authorities believe this was an isolated incident with no ongoing danger to residents in the area.
