Chatham County Finance Director Roy Lynch holds up the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA)

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. According to GFOA, its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

“I couldn’t be more proud of Roy and our finance staff for consistently demonstrating such a high level of professionalism, integrity, and excellence with the county’s financial reporting,” said Chatham County Manager Dan LaMontagne. “Achieving this national recognition for more than 30 years is remarkable, and their high standards will position us well as Chatham County continues its tremendous growth.”

According to GFOA, the annual comprehensive financial report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
