Pittsboro, NC – Several readers have illustrated how the re-evaluation of property in Chatham County and the proposed new tax rate will in fact significantly increase the taxes we pay. And, in fact, the rent that renters pay will increase as the landlord passes on a tax increase that cannot be financially digested.
The message that the tax rate is less than last year is just another form of gaslighting. While those folks may think we are stupid, obviously we are not. I have suggested in other forums that we ought to look at the waste in spending and the outcry from a few well known political voices was loud and not terribly useful. So I now find it interesting that these voices are silent and not telling us all the wonderful benefits we will receive.
Perhaps it is because there aren’t any.
