Pittsboro, NC – The Town of Pittsboro is announcing the launch of a community engagement survey to gather more input from our community on the proposed Chatham Park South Village Small Area Plan. The small area plan will guide land use, transportation, utilities, parks and open space, environmental stewardship, and community character within the South Village area of Chatham Park. The survey invites residents, business owners, and stakeholders from across Pittsboro and Chatham County to share their priorities, concerns, and ideas as the Board of Commissioners reviews and considers the draft plan.
“Chatham Park’s South Village will play a significant role in Pittsboro’s growth over the coming years,” said Mayor Kyle Shipp. “We want a plan that reflects our community’s values and allows growth to happen for Pittsboro, not to us, while protecting what makes Pittsboro special. Your feedback is essential to getting that balance right.”
Town Manager Jonathan Franklin emphasized that the survey is one part of a broader, transparent engagement process. “We are committed to meeting people where they are – online, in person, and in public meetings – to ensure every voice that wants to be heard can be,” he said. “Input from the community will allow the Board and staff to get a more diverse and comprehensive view of how this plan can serve Pittsboro for the decades to come.”
The Town encourages broad participation, including residents within Town limits and the ETJ, nearby neighborhoods, business owners, property owners, and those who work, study, or regularly visit Pittsboro. The survey takes approximately five (5) minutes to complete and is available on our website under the Engagement tab at https://pittsboronc.gov/35/Engagement. The survey will remain open until 11:59 PM on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025.
Community members will also have opportunities to engage and provide public comment and feedback at upcoming public meetings, which are listed at https://pittsboronc.gov/agendacenter.
