Pittsboro, NC – On September 2, Jasmine Shabrika Murphy, 27, of 731 Grabtown Road, Windsor, was arrested by Deputy Shannon Read for attempted sexual act with a student, indecent liberties with a student, extortion, and cyberstalking.
The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office said they received a report on May 31 about inappropriate texts and verbal communication between a teacher and student. At the time, Murphy worked at Northwood High School when the alleged crimes happened. She is no longer employed as a teacher.
The Chatham County school system said it reported Murphy to the authorities when school officials learned of the allegations back in the spring.
She was issued a written promise to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on September 12.
