Polar Plungers gathered at Seaforth Beach to support SONC in 2022.
The Polar Plunge is a beloved tradition which continues to grow and attract more participants and spectators year after year. With the community’s help, the 2023 Chatham County Sheriff’s Office Polar Plunge could make its biggest splash yet. Friends, family, and fellow coworkers are invited to the chilly challenge (the more, the merrier). Make a team, pick a theme, select costumes, raise funds and awareness for a great cause, and charge together into the chilly waters of Jordan Lake for the bonding experience of a lifetime.
As with previous years, the event will feature special guest appearances, costume contests, prizes and more. For instance, awards will be presented for Best Group Costume, Best Individual Costume, Youngest Participant, Top Fundraiser, etc. People can plunge solo or as part of a group. Note: There will also be a special award for one local school, and student participation is highly encouraged.
Funds raised from the plunge will support Special Olympics NC and local athletes depend on the community’s support for their participation in the summer, fall, and winter games.
