Outstanding Chatham Central students honored for their commitment to service and leadership

Bear Creek, NC – On Thursday evening the Rotary Club of Pittsboro’s Youth Services & Scholarship Committee attended the Scholarship Night at Chatham Central High School.

The Pittsboro Rotary Club was pleased to present the Karen S. Heilman Scholarship to Kelsey Andrews (right). Kelsey’s passion for the Big Buddy Adventures Club really shined throughout her application. The BBA Club works to represent people with disabilities through various efforts and fundraisers, many organized by Kelsey. Kelsey plans to attend Central Carolina Community College in the fall and hopes to pursue a career that supports people with disabilities.

The club also presented Sholl Burkhead (left) with the Service Above Self Award & Scholarship. As the President of the Junior Beta Club, Sholl exemplified Service Above Self by organizing the Chatham Central High School Blood Drive. Sholl’s impact reached even the community and local businesses to donate to cancer awareness. She plans to attend Clemson University in the fall and pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
