Pittsboro, NC – Downtown Pittsboro came alive on a crisp Saturday morning as 20 enthusiastic teams descended upon the SoCo patio, ready to embark on a mini-adventure in the 2nd Annual Pittsboro Treasure Quest. This exciting competition, beginning at Havoc and concluding at the Red Moose, promised a day filled with creativity, camaraderie, and a dash of friendly competition.

The Pittsboro Treasure Quest was hosted by the Circle City Merchants! Teams of two to six people would move throughout downtown Pittsboro, completing challenges and accruing points. The highest scoring teams were awarded prizes: $500 for 1st place, $300 for 2nd place, and $200 for 3rd place.
At the sign-in teams received a packet of clues leading to local businesses, landmarks, and special guest locations. At each location, teams completed a challenge before heading to their next stop. The Circle City Merchants monitored these challenges through social media and tabulating points for each team.
A Colorful Cast of Characters
As participants gathered at Havoc, an interesting mix of teams was on full display. From pirates to scouts, and even a group dressed as crayons, Pittsboro has rarely seen such a colorful and spirited gathering (except for possibly Halloween). This event has become a platform for individuals and groups of all ages to come together and embrace their creativity.
The teams, brimming with energy and anticipation, were equipped with their unique costumes and treasure maps, eager to begin their quest. We ran a video live stream on Facebook, which allowed online spectators to get a glimpse of the excitement and creativity that was brewing among the participants.

Eagle Scouts and Troop 93
Some of the participants were local Eagle Scouts from Troop 93, proudly displaying their achievements and badges. They shared insights into the dedication and hard work required to earn the coveted Eagle Scout status. For those interested in joining, they highlighted the opportunities and values that Scouting offers to young individuals.
Sorry, I’m Late with a dash of Hawaiian Explosion
Amidst the excitement, there were lighthearted moments as well. The team “Sorry, I’m Late” shared their humorous approach to the competition, with shirts reading, “Sorry I’m Late, I Saw a Dog.” Their enthusiasm and humor set the tone for a day filled with fun and laughter.
Another team, the “Hawaiian Explosion,” brought a tropical vibe to Pittsboro with their vibrant Hawaiian shirts. Their choice to participate was spontaneous, and it was clear they were here for a good time.
Building Community
As the day continued, it was evident that the Pittsboro Treasure Quest wasn’t just about competition but also about community-building. The event provided an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to come together, showcase their creativity, and explore the the businesses and shops of Pittsboro.
In its second year, the Pittsboro Treasure Quest has established itself as an exciting annual event that brings all sorts of folks together. It’s a day where creativity knows no bounds, and participants create lasting memories while exploring the unique treasures of Pittsboro.
