4 Chatham County teams playing in third round of state basketball playoffs

Pittsboro, NC – The secong round of the state basketball playoffs was played on Friday. Six Chatham County high school basketball teams played in the second round. Here are the results from Friday night’s basketball game. We are also including information as to whom the winners will be playing and where those second round games will take place.

2nd Round 2A State basketball playoff results

#4 Northwood boys (26-3) defeated #13 North Johnston (21-5) at home, 77-35.
#4 Northwood boys (25-3) will play at home in Pittsboro, NC against #21 Southeast Alamance (18-11) on Tuesday at 7 pm. The winner of this game will play the winner of the #1 Farmville Central (27-1) vs #9 Southwest Onslow (23-5) game on Friday.

#11 Northwood girls (24-5) defeated #6 East Carteret girls (24-3) away on Friday, 49-24. The #11 Northwood girls (24-5) will play away against the #3 Seaforth girls (25-3) on Tuesday at 6 pm. The winner of this game will play against the winner of the #7 Northeastern girls (22-7) vs #15 St. Paul’s girls (19-5) on Friday.

#3 Seaforth girls (25-3) defeated #19 North Johnson (18-8) on Friday, . The Seaforth girls will host the #11 Northwood girls on Tuesday at 6 pm. The winner of this game will play against the winner of the #7 Northeastern girls (22-7) vs #15 St. Paul’s girls (19-5) on Friday.

2nd Round 1A State basketball playoff results

#9 Chatham Central girls (19-9) defeated the #8 Bear Grass Charter girls (20-6) in an away game on Friday, 38-25. The #9 Chatham Central girls (19-9) will play the #1 Falls Lake girls (29-2) in Creedmoor, NC on Tuesday. The winner of this game will play the winner of the #4 Vance Charter girls (21-2) vs #12 East Bladen girls (23-4) game on Friday.

#5 Chatham Central boys (24-5) lost at home to #12 North Edgecombe boys (21-5) on Friday, 86-61.

#5 Chatham Charter girls (24-3) lost at home to #12 East Blanden girls (23-4) on Friday, 52-50.

The first four rounds of the state basketball playoffs will be played at the higher seed, while the semifinals and state championships will be played at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem.

March 8 — Fourth Round @ higher seed

March 11-14 — Regional Championships @ Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum

Monday, March 11: 1A boys & girls regional championships

Tuesday, March 12: 3A boys & girls regional championships

Wednesday, March 13: 2A boys & girls regional championships

Thursday, March 14: 4A boys & girls regional championships

With four regional championships each day at Lawrence Joel Memorial Coliseum, games will begin at 2 p.m. Following games will begin approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the previous game. Approximate game times are 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m.

State championship games will be played on Friday and Saturday.

Friday, March 15: 1A & 3A boys & girls state championships

Saturday, March 16: 2A & 4A boys & girls state championships

Friday’s state championships will be played at 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. Saturday’s state championships will be played at 12 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.
