Goldston Public Library announces free July programs and events

Goldston, NC – Goldston Public Library is excited to announce free programs and events during the month of July for the Chatham County community to enjoy.

Ask A Master Gardener
Monday, July 15th, 11:00 a.m. – noon

Goldston Public Library invites the Chatham community to the library for a pop-up Q & A session about gardening, lawns, landscapes, native plants, and house plants. The NC Cooperative Extension Master Gardener volunteers of Chatham County will be on hand to answer these questions. Volunteers can also help participants learn to access and use the online resources available at no cost from the NC Cooperative Extension.

Goldston Outdoor Adventure
Tuesday, July 16th, 10:30 a.m. – noon

Goldston Public Library and the Chatham County Parks & Recreation Department will host a series of activities on July 16th for children of all ages to enjoy.

As part of the Summer Reading Program, Adventure Begins at Your Library, Chatham County Parks & Recreation activities will include large group games, various yard games, and a scavenger hunt around the library.

Linda Gorham: Storyteller
Wednesday, July 17th, 10:30 a.m.

Goldston Public Library invites the Chatham community to an exciting storytelling event presented by Linda Gorham. This special event will be held in the J.S. Waters School multipurpose room, located at 55 J.S. Waters School Road, Goldston, NC 27252.

Linda Gorham is a storyteller who tells many types of stories. Attendees should be prepared, because she is going to include all of them in her stories. Participants should get ready to move, learn, and have fun!

This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Chatham Community Library.

Goldston Public Library’s Friday Family Movie
Beginning Friday, June 14th, and continuing every Friday until August 16th, 2:00 p.m.

Families with children of all ages are invited to Goldston Public Library every Friday for a family movie in the E.M. Harris Jr. Conference Room. Attendees are welcome to bring snacks, a blanket or pillow, and family and friends. All feature movies are rated G or PG.

Goldston: eBook Basics with the Libby App
Wednesday, July 31st, 2:00 p.m.

Chatham community members are invited to learn how to use Libby, the free library app for eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines. In this workshop, participants will learn skills including:

downloading and setting up the app

navigating the app

browsing and searching for titles

borrowing titles and placing holds

managing your loans

managing settings and notifications

maximizing your Libby experience

Compatible devices: Apple iPhone/iPad (iOS 10 and later), Android phones & tablets (7.1 and later), Amazon Fire tablet (2020 models and later). Registration is required.
