Pittsboro, NC – The Chatham County Board of Education approved five new district administrators at the July 25, 2024 personnel agenda board meeting.
Dr. Bradford Walston was named the school district’s Director of School Safety, Security, and Operations. Walston has served Northwood High School for the past six years. He was named Chatham County Schools’ 2022 Principal of the Year during his time as Northwood’s principal. Walston earned his Doctorate of Education in Education Leadership and Education Specialist degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

I am thrilled to lead with a commitment to excellence, putting student and staff safety at the forefront of our decision-making processes.”
Mrs. Wynne Youngblood was named Principal of Northwood High School. She has served as an Assistant Principal at Northwood High School over the past six years, and will be replacing Dr. Bradford Walston. Prior to working at Northwood, Youngblood was an administrative intern at Scott Ridge Elementary School and was a science teacher at East Rowan High School for nearly a decade. She obtained her Masters in School Administration from North Carolina State University and a Masters in Secondary Education from East Carolina University.
“Having served as Northwood’s assistant principal for the past six years, I have had the opportunity to witness firsthand the incredible dedication, resilience, and spirit that define our school community,” said Youngblood. “Northwood is truly the place to be. It is with great honor and excitement that I step into this new role, and continue the work of teaching and learning alongside our exceptional staff, talented students, and supportive school community.”
Mrs. Manda Bass was named Assistant Principal of Northwood High School. Bass recently concluded her administrative internship at Northwood, and will be replacing Mrs. Wynne Youngblood. Before coming to Northwood, Bass was a Math teacher in Chatham County for over 20 years. She received her Masters in Math Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Elon University.

Dr. Sasha Scott was named Assistant Principal of Chatham Middle School. Scott served as an Exceptional Children teacher in Durham and Alamance-Burlington Public Schools System for over a decade. She obtained her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership and Masters of Education in Special Education from Grand Canyon University, and a Masters of Administration from Gardner Webb University.

Ms. Megan Tillett was named Assistant Principal of Chatham Grove Elementary School. Tillett is returning to education, and she previously served as an assistant principal for Orange County Schools. Prior to being an assistant principal, Tillett has nearly two decades of educational experience. Tillett received her Bachelor of Arts in Education and Masters of School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
