Greensboro, NC – The Seaforth, Northwood and Jordan-Matthews wrestling teams competed at regionals on Saturday. Twelve Chatham County high school wrestlers will compete at the NCHSAA 2A wrestling championships this coming weekend at the Greensboro Coliseum. There are nine wrestlers from Seaforth, two wrestlers from Jordan-Matthews and one wrestler from Northwood who have qualified for the championships.
Each qualifier is listed below. Regional champs are italicized. Chatham County wrestlers are highlighted in bold.
Each classification has four regionals to determine who advances to states. The top four wrestlers out of the East, Mideast, Midwest, and West regionals advance and are placed into a bracket where the 1-seed from one region faces the 4-seed from another, and a 2-seed and 3-seed from other regions are in the same “pod.”
In 2A, each weight class has a 16-wrestler bracket.
Regional team champs were: Washington (2A East), Seaforth (2A Mideast), Trinity (2A Midwest), and R-S Central (2A West).
