Pittsboro, NC – The Chatham County Board of Commissioners will hold a Special Meeting on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at the Historic Chatham County Courthouse, 9 Hillsboro Street, Pittsboro.
The purpose of the meeting:
- Hold the monthly public comment session
- Vote to adopt a resolution recognizing March 2026 as Procurement Month in Chatham County.
- Vote to adopt and present a Resolution Honoring Women’s History Month in Chatham County.
- Receive updated information on the Chatham County Schools charter school reimbursement request.
- Receive an update on the Pittsboro Redevelopment Project.
- Receive a presentation on farmland preservation prioritization mapping project and vote to approve $25,000 farmland preservation funding request for conservation easement acquisition.
- Vote on a recommendation from the Climate Change Advisory Committee to approve the signing of a joint letter to the North Carolina Utilities Commission regarding the Duke Energy Carbon Plan/Integrated Resource Plan.
- Vote on a recommendation from the Climate Change Advisory Committee to approve the request for proposals for development of a Chatham County Climate Action Plan.
- Vote on a recommendation from the Climate Change Advisory Committee to adopt a Resolution Entitled, “Responsible Climate Action and Evaluation of Low-Carbon Energy Options in North Carolina” and Forward to Governor Stein’s Office.
- Receive an update and discuss the Board of Commissioners travel and training expense for the FY2027 budget.
- The Consent Agenda including the following items:
- Vote to reappoint Stephanie Freese DVM, to fill a third (3rd) term on the Board of Health as a veterinarian member, effective February 20, 2026.
- Vote to adopt a resolution declaring property surplus and authorizing sale of said property.
- Vote to adopt a resolution to close the Chatham County Library Foundation Special Revenue.
- Vote to adopt a project ordinance for the Agriculture and Conference Center Phase II.
- Vote to approve Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Budget Amendments.
- Vote to accept $2,500 in Suicide Prevention Funds from the UNC Suicide Prevention Institute.
- Vote to accept $2,281 in additional one-time funds from the Maternal and Child Health Block Grant (MCHBG) to support and assure maternal health services.
- Vote to accept $2,871 in one-time funds from the Maternal and Child Health Block Grant (MCHBG) through NCDHHS to support family planning services.
- Vote to accept $21,138 in NCDHHS funding for Food and Lodging Program in Environmental Health.
- Vote to receive the Tax Collector’s Departmental Report for January 2026.
- Vote to approve Tax Releases and Refunds for February 2026.
- Vote on a request by the Silk Hope Volunteer Fire Department to post notice of a public hearing, appoint Chief Mark Gaines, Silk Hope Volunteer Fire Department, to conduct the public hearing, and secure financing in a sum not to exceed $10,000,000.00 through tax exempt borrowing.
- Vote to approve the FCC Letter of Agency authorizing Sound E-rate, Inc to submit the five-year funding of the E-Rate program for the library system.
- Vote to approve the name of one private road in Chatham County listed as Timber View Dr.
- Vote to approve Pyrotechnic display at The Skyroom NC located at 247 Callies Haven Way, Moncure, NC 27559 during a wedding celebration on April 18, 2026.
- Vote to approve a contract with Salesforce for the purchase of three Tableau software licenses.
- Vote to approve a contract with Martin Starnes & Associates, CPAs, P.A. for fiscal year end June 30, 2026 audit services.
- Vote to authorize the County Manager to negotiate and approve a design-build contract with Carolina Commercial Contractors (CCC) for Phase 2 of the Chatham County Agriculture and Conference Center for $343,531.
- Vote to approve a contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield for the Fiscal Year 2027 Health Insurance Renewals.
- Vote to amend the contract with Trio Community Meals for Nutrition Services.
- Vote to approve a request by Clay Matthews on behalf of Greenfield BW, LLC for subdivision First Plat review and approval of Bramblewood, consisting of 60 lots on 123.74 acres, located off US Hwy 64 W, parcels 82230 and 96352
- Receive reports from the National Association of County Officials Legislative trip to Washington, DC
- Vote to appoint members to the Affordable Housing Committee
- Vote to appoint members to the Climate Change Advisory Committee
- Vote to appoint members to the Environmental Review Advisory Committee
- Vote to appoint members to the Library Advisory Committee
- Vote to appoint members to the Recreation Advisory Committee
- Vote to appoint members to the Transportation Advisory Committee

- Vote to go into closed session pursuant to § 143-318.11(a)(3) to consult with an attorney retained by the County in order to preserve the attorney-client privilege
