ACC men’s lacrosse regular season climaxes with tripleheader

Charlotte, NC – The 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse regular season comes to a close on Saturday, April 26, with three games, including a pair of key conference matchups. In a doubleheader on ACC Network, No. 9 Duke visits Virginia at 3 p.m. ET and No. 8 North Carolina travels to No. 10 Syracuse. In non-conference play, No. 6 Notre Dame plays host to Penn at 2 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

North Carolina, Notre Dame and Syracuse have clinched berths in the ACC Men’s Lacrosse Championship, set for May 2 and 4 at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The winner of the Duke-UVa game will claim the final berth.

Notre Dame has clinched a share of the ACC regular-season title. The Syracuse-UNC winner also will earn a share of the crown. If SU wins, the Orange will be the No. 1 seed in the ACC Championship. If UNC wins, Notre Dame gains the No. 1 seed.

Four ACC teams are ranked in the latest USILA Coaches and Inside Lacrosse polls, with Notre Dame at No. 6, North Carolina at No. 8 and Duke at No. 9 in both polls and Syracuse at No. 10 (USILA) and No. 11 (Inside Lacrosse).

Noting ACC Men’s Lacrosse
• In the latest NCAA RPI, all five ACC teams rank among the top 15: Notre Dame (5), UNC (6), Duke (7), Syracuse (9), and Virginia (14). 
• The NCAA’s Division I Men’s Lacrosse Committee revealed its top 10 teams last Saturday (April 19), with three from the ACC: UNC (5), Syracuse (9) and Notre Dame (10).
• Notre Dame owns the No. 5 scoring offense nationally at 14.2 goals per game, with Syracuse (7th, 14.1) and UNC (12th, 13.4) also among the top 15.
• UNC is No. 6 nationally in scoring defense this season (8.4 goals allowed/game), while Notre Dame is No. 8 (8.6).
• Syracuse’s Joey Spallina is fifth nationally in assists per game (2.9) and points per game (5.1). UNC’s Dominic Pietramala is No. 9 nationally in goals per game (3.1). 
• UNC’s Brady Wambach (3rd, .653), Syracuse’s John Mullen (7th, .632) and ND’s Will Lynch (15th, .597) rank among the top 15 nationally in faceoff winning percentage.
• All five ACC teams own top 10 marks nationally in Strength of Schedule (by opponent win pct.): ND (2), Syracuse (6), Duke (7), UVA (8) and UNC (10).
• Four ACC coaches rank among the top 10 in career wins among active coaches, most of any conference: Duke’s John Danowski (first, 481), ND’s Kevin Corrigan (third, 367), UNC’s Joe Breschi (fifth, 260) and Virginia’s Lars Tiffany (ninth, 210). Danowski owns the third-most wins of any D-I head coach all-time.
• Eight ACC players have been named nominees for the 2025 Tewaaraton Award. 
• Notre Dame captured its second straight NCAA Championship in 2024, doing so in dominating fashion as it won four straight games by at least five goals each.
• The ACC owns 19 NCAA Championships, including four of the last five with Virginia in 2019 and 2021 and Notre Dame in 2023 and 2024.
• The 2025 ACC schedule features four games per team (two road, two home). The 2025 ACC Tournament will be contested May 2 and 4, featuring the top four teams in the league standings competing at Charlotte’s American Legion Memorial Stadium.
• The five active ACC teams have combined for 27 national championships, including 11 of the last 16.
• Syracuse owns 10 NCAA titles (most of any NCAA program), while Virginia has won seven, UNC five, Duke three and Notre Dame two.
