“Kickin’ Chicken” returns Friday to support Special Olympics NC

Goldton, NC – With just days to go, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office is inviting the community to take part in its annual “Kickin’ Chicken” fundraiser this Friday, May 1, benefiting Special Olympics North Carolina.

The one-day event will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Goldston Fire Department.

Each $10 plate includes chicken tenders, green beans, coleslaw, bread, and dessert, with all proceeds going directly to support Special Olympics programs across North Carolina. The fundraiser is part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, a partnership that helps provide year-round opportunities for athletes to compete and grow.

CCSO personnel will be cooking, organizing orders, and delivering meals across the county, working alongside volunteers from the Goldston Fire Department to make the event possible. Free delivery is available for orders of five or more plates.

Sheriff Mike Roberson said the event is a chance for the community to come together in support of athletes who continue to inspire.

“These athletes show us what determination and heart really look like,” said Sheriff Roberson. “This fundraiser is one way we can stand alongside them, support their goals, and invite the community to be part of something meaningful.”

Meals will be available for dine-in or takeout, and advance orders are encouraged.
