Chatham Soil and Water Conservation District announces quarterly newsletter

Pittsboro, NC – In order to bring more awareness to the public, the Chatham Soil and Water Conservation District is excited to unveil its revitalized quarterly newsletter. The Chatham Soil and Water Conservation District’s mission is to ensure the wise use of the county’s natural resources, soil, water, air, plants, and animals by providing technical and educational services to land users.

Complete with its new name, Loam on the Range highlights Best Management Practices (BMPs) from Soil and Water Conservation’s programs, gives updates on educational programming, provides readers with articles relating to the district’s mission, includes dates for upcoming events, and more.

Individuals who wish to receive the quarterly newsletter, Loam on the Range, are asked to submit their contact information to Brandy Oldham via email at brandy.oldham@chathamcountync.gov, or they may complete a Google form at forms.gle/xoNZLiPPVBLyvTq28.

Board Meetings:
The Chatham Soil and Water Conservation District Board meets every second Thursday of the month at 7 pm in the conference room of the new Agriculture & Conference Center in Pittsboro. This meeting is open to the public. To confirm the meeting or for additional information, please call (919) 542-8240.

District Partners:
The districts work closely with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Division of Soil and Water Conservation in the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services. NRCS provides soil conservation specialists to help landowners and land users. The division provides financial, technical and administrative support to the districts. Technical assistance can be provided to the landowner in varying capacities based on his/her needs.
