ACC men’s basketball Saturday recap – March 8

Charlotte, NC – Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Notre Dame, Pitt, Syracuse and Wake Forest posted victories in conference games played on Saturday, March 8, in the last day of the regular season. Duke secured the outright ACC regular-season championship with its win over rival North Carolina.

The 2025 ACC Tournament will be played March 11-15 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

No. 2 Duke 82, North Carolina 69 | Box Score
Freshman Kon Knueppel scored 17 points to help No. 2 Duke beat rival North Carolina 82-69 on Saturday in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and clinch the outright Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title. Cooper Flagg added 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists despite first-half foul trouble for the Blue Devils. RJ Davis scored 20 points for the Tar Heels.

No. 14 Louisville 68, Stanford 48 | Box Score
Terrence Edwards Jr. and Chucky Hepburn scored 16 points apiece, and No. 14 Louisville ended the regular season Saturday with a 68-48 victory over Stanford in Louisville, Kentucky. The Cardinals used their defense to earn their ninth straight victory and 19th in 20 games. Stanford went nearly eight minutes between baskets in the first half, missing 11 shots in a row. Maxime Raynaud recorded his 23rd double-double for the Cardinal, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

No. 11 Clemson 65, Virginia Tech 47 | Box Score
Viktor Lakhin scored 12 of his 16 points in the first half as No. 11 Clemson opened a double-digit lead and beat Virginia Tech 65-47 on Saturday in Clemson, South Carolina, for the program’s record-tying 26th victory of the season. The Tigers matched a mark set by the 1990 team. Brandon Rechsteiner led the Hokies with 11 points.

Miami 72, NC State 70 | Box Score
Brandon Johnson’s putback slam with 1 second remaining lifted Miami to a 72-70 victory over NC State on Saturday in Coral Gables, Florida. Matthew Cleveland matched a career high with 32 points for the Canes, while Johnson and Jalil Bethea added 10 apiece. Dontrez Styles scored 24 points to lead the Wolfpack.

Wake Forest 69, Georgia Tech 43 | Box Score
Efton Reid scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Wake Forest stymied Georgia Tech 69-43 on Saturday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Cameron Hildreth led Wake Forest with 14 points and Hunter Sallis added 13. The Demon Deacons tied the program record for league wins with 13. Baye Ndongo scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Georgia Tech 

Notre Dame 112, California 110 (4OT) | Box Score
Markus Burton scored a career-high 43 points, Matt Allocco nailed the go-ahead 3-pointer in the fourth overtime, and Notre Dame outlasted California 112-110 on Saturday in South Bend, Indiana. It marked just the seventh quadruple overtime game in ACC history and just the second in league play. Allocco finished with 24 points for Notre Dame. Freshman Jeremiah Wilkinson had a career-high 36 points for the Golden Bears.

Florida State 76, SMU 69 | Box Score
Malique Ewin scored a career-high 26 points and Florida State defeated SMU 76-69 on Saturday in Tallahassee, Florida, to give Leonard Hamilton a win in his final game coaching the Seminoles in Donald L. Tucker Center. Hamilton, who is retiring at season’s end after 23 seasons heading the program, collected his 200th ACC regular-season win, which ranks fourth in conference history. He is the ACC’s fifth all-time winningest coach with 438 victories. Boopie Miller led the Mustangs with 16 points.

Pitt 93, Boston College 67 | Box Score
Cameron Corhen and Brandin Cummings each scored 16 points as Pittsburgh rolled to a 93-67 win over Boston College on Saturday in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Elijah Strong led Boston College with 14 points and Donald Hand Jr. scored 12 points.

Syracuse 84, Virginia 70 | Box Score
Eddie Lampkin Jr. turned in his 14th double-double of the campaign with 25 points and 10 rebounds to help lead Syracuse to a victory over Virginia on Saturday in Syracuse, New York. Lucas Taylor and Jyare Davis both added 15 points for the Orange. Jacob Cofie went 6-for-6 from the field and scored 13 points for UVA.
