Probation search leads to firearm-related charge in Siler City

Siler City, NC – On October 17, 2025, North Carolina Probation and Parole Officers conducted a search at 849 Glovers Grove Church Road in Siler City. During the search, they requested assistance from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit.

While searching the residence, authorities located a firearm in the playroom.

Jacob Dowd, 27, of the same address, is a convicted felon and prohibited from purchasing, owning, possessing, or having control of firearms. Dowd, who was already out on bond for a similar offense in Chatham County, was taken into custody. He was charged with one felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Dowd is scheduled to appear in court on October 20, 2025, at the Chatham County Justice Center in Pittsboro. His secured bond was set at $10,000.
