Pittsboro, NC – During its meeting on December 15, 2025, the Chatham County Board of Commissioners proudly presented the 2025 Employee of the Year award to Brenton Hart, Policy and Legislative Analyst in the County Manager’s Office, in recognition of his outstanding service to the community.

Hart was nominated for his exceptional leadership, innovation, and collaboration in the development and implementation of a number of different projects and initiatives including the Chatham County Information Hub, the County’s Digital Inclusion Plan, the revision to the Board of Commissioners Advisory Committee Policy, the data analysis work on the Aging Master Plan, and the Pittsboro Redevelopment Initiative.
Hart’s nomination also stated that he is involved in everything from researching the proper procedure for disinterring graves to erecting commemorative historical markers to best practices for collaborative community gardens.
“Brenton embodies the very best of public service, bringing together exceptional competence, humility, and a genuine commitment to serving others,” said Bryan Thompson, Chatham County Manager. “In just three years with the organization, he has made a meaningful impact by giving back to the community in which he was raised. A true beacon for the future of public service, Brenton’s dedication and character make him richly deserving of the Employee of the Year award. We are extremely proud of his accomplishments and look forward to all he will continue to achieve.”
Chatham County staff were asked to submit nominations for 2025 Employee of the Year. The Workforce Development Committee received many qualified nominees.
