Pittsboro, NC – The Chatham County Sheriff’s Animal Resource Center hosted a successful spay/neuter clinic on Friday, January 9, 2026, in partnership with the Spay Neuter Veterinary Clinic of the Sandhills and its mobile surgical unit, the “Spay Shuttle.”

Chatham County residents dropped off pets scheduled for spay or neuter procedures throughout the morning, with animals safely returned to their owners later that afternoon. During the clinic, six dogs and approximately 35 cats received spay or neuter services. Surgeries were performed aboard the Spay Shuttle, while ARC staff and volunteers supported intake, logistics, and recovery throughout the day.
The clinic ran smoothly from start to finish thanks to the coordinated efforts of veterinary staff, ARC personnel, and a dedicated group of volunteers, including volunteers from Chatham Animal Rescue and Education (CARE), who assisted at every stage of the process.
“Spay and neuter clinics remain a critical tool in addressing pet overpopulation and promoting healthier outcomes for animals across Chatham County,” said Sheriff Mike Roberson. “The success of this clinic reflects the hard work and cooperation of everyone involved, from our Animal Resource Center staff to our veterinary partners and volunteers.”
The Chatham County Sheriff’s Animal Resource Center plans to host another spay/neuter clinic in February, continuing its efforts to provide accessible services that support animal welfare countywide.
